Myron M. Cherry & Associates, LLC filed a lawsuit today against Air Line Pilots Association, International (“ALPA”), the union for United pilots, in connection with its distribution of a $225 Million payment from United Airlines that was supposed to compensate all United pilots for a nearly three year delay in reaching the new collective bargaining agreement.

According to the lawsuit, while ALPA sought and accepted this money to apportion that amount according to each pilot’s pro rata share, it created special rules and exceptions to its actual distribution methodology for two minority groups, management pilots and pilot instructors, that artificially and arbitrarily reduced their share of retro pay or cut them out all together.  The lawsuit seeks class action status and was filed in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
